Andrew was competing in the 18-19 year old age category in the Under 90Kg class. This was the final competition of the year and Andrew wanted to end it on a high.

He did just that by attaining the World Champion title in his age and weight category. Andrew lifted a combined total of 560kg, which is six and a half times his own body weight!

Andrew’s performance compared to the rest of the competitors in his weight category, placed him sixth in the world. In attaining this feat, Andrew set three new Irish records.

Andrew has his sights on making 2014 an even better year.

Andrew would like to thank Rory O’Kane from Fitness First, Coleraine for all the training and advice going into the competition, and thanks also to the rest of the Irish team for their support and encouragement on the day.
