Anglers begin Winter League

The first round of Islandderry Fishery’s annual winter league was held on Saturday with some of the anglers getting into the Halloween Spirit by arriving in fancy dress. The weather conditions proved to be testing with the lake fishing better in the afternoon during the heavy rain and wind than in the morning. Lisburn angler and new comer to the sport Barry McKibben kept up his winning streak by weighing 3 nice fish for 12lb3, giving him first place by only an ounce to second place Rab Clements, Banbridge with a 3 fish weight of 12lb2. Equal third place went to George Dumigan and Paddy Brunty with 3 fish for 11lb11. Full results can be found on the website www.islandderryfisheryandtackle.co.uk

The next competition is the Islandderry Trout Anglers Hugh Brunty Memorial fly fishing competition on Saturday 16 November in Aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a sponsored event with forms available from the fishery or by phoning 07859 074424. All welcome.
