Anglers enjoy a day of friendly competiton at Islandderry Fishery

A great day’s fishing was had at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore on Saturday with a friendly competition between Donaldson Lake, Holywood and Islandderry Trout Anglers fishing team.

The weather stayed fine and plenty of fish were caught and returned safely with buzzers being the favorite fly of the day.

Islandderry Trout Anglers were the winning team of the day with a team fish weight of 30lb8 to Donaldsons weight of 19lb14.

Heaviest bag of the day went to Islandderry’s Matt McFadden with a two fish weight of 7lb14 and second heaviest bag went to Donaldson’s Jan Curragh with a two fish bag for 6lb2.

A big thank you to Donaldsons for the coming down to fish in the friendly competition, everyone is looking forward to the rematch at Donaldsons lake in September. The next open competition at Islandderry Fishery is the McFadden Memorial competition on 5 September in aid of Diabetes. There is a fly fishing competition on the main lake and a bait competition on the small lake, both are open to everone.
