Ann 'Racks' up a Sports Bond success

ANN Dickey, proprietor of the News Rack in Ahoghill, has been a Sports Bond agent since its inception.

Ann was even an agent for promoter Brian Thompson when he was at Linfield, so her association goes back more than 13 years.

This week Ann (B4847) was a major 50 winners on her own agency. Nice one Ann!

AGENTS’ NEWS

The Sports Bond office was saddened to learn of the passing of Bertie McDowell in Cloughmills. Bertie was a great Ballymena supporter and a member of Ann Hume’s agency.

Promoter Brian Thompson attended Bertie’s funeral in Dunloy and paid special mention that he will miss Bertie’s support and humour on match days.

Brian also extended sympathy to the family of Robert McCann in Larne. Robert was a great supporter of the Sales and Marketing department and once donated a superb set of chef’s knives for the Christmas draw. Robert was a solid supporter, both home and away.

Also Lindsay Gordon, a well-known member of the Seven Towers Supporters’ Club, has been doing an excellent job, recruiting members by telemarketing.

NEW MARKETING INITIATIVES

It may be a quiet month on the playing side, but on the marketing end, June is set to be a hot month with two new initiatives.

On June 26, the inaugural SKy Blue Darts Classic will take place.

Marketing Executive Brian Thompson has got together with Billy Montgomery and Davy Wilson to organise this new event with darts coming to the aid of Ballymena United for fund-raising.

Billy is a well-known Sky Blue supporter and along with Davy, who’s secretary of the Ballymena, Harryville and District Darts League, both are well known in darts circles.

Sponsorship has been secured for the event and a very substantial prize fund is on offer. Both will be announced shortly. Entry fee is 10 and the event is already on the NIDO website.

In keeping with the World Cups of 2002 and 2006, the World Cup Highs and Lows promotion will again be running.

Tickets are priced at 1 each with 100 for the highest scoring two teams, 50 for the lowest scoring teams and 25 for the two final teams. Tickets go on sale this week from Sports Bond agents.
