Another busy week for Springwell runners

On Saturday, Sperrin Harriers hosted the third race in their Winter League Trail Series. The 10K at Drum Manor Forest Park attracted a record field of one hundred and forty athletes.

Springwell’s James Thompson finished ninth in 38:08 closely followed by Chris Millar 40:16, Thomas Moore 41:04, Gerard Mullan 42:25 (1st M50), Jim Breen 44:09 (1st M55) and Julie-Anne Millar 54:47.

With high tide at 7.57am, conditions were always going to be soft underfoot today, and that proved to be the case. Apart from that, the weather conditions were fine for the 56 runners at Saturday’s Portrush parkrun

There were 9 first timers and not surprisingly, only Zac Marsh 35:54 got a PB.

The pre run brief was quite eventful. Kay Hack completed her 50th run today, so her t-shirt will be winging its way to her shortly. Patricia McNally was presented with her 50 t-shirt and Ruairi Kendall received his 10 t-shirt. The clapping didn’t stop there, as Robert Workman received a deserved round of applause on reaching his 60th birthday earlier in the week, and shows no signs of slowing down. Robert along with Donna Hughes are only 5 runs away from a 50 t-shirt.

Springwell’s Chris Denton led the field home in a time of 20:13 and Sonia Knox was first lady home in 22:46
