Another home defeat for Dromore Seniors

LAST Saturday saw the final game for the Dromore senior team against Lisnagarvey at home.

Rink 1: B. Paylor, I. Houston, F. Cranney, D. McCandless.

Rink 2: D. Graham, R. Bolton, K. Aiken, J.McKenny.

Rink 3: H. Hylands, S. Dugan, B. Clingham, D. Shanks.

Rink 4: A. Mathews, G. Dawson, D. Burns, S.G. Malcomson.

In a tight first half Garvey were in the lead by a single shot. McCandless, playing some great bowls, was in the lead by four and Shanks was two up; McKenny was five in arrears and SG was two down.

In the next five ends the seniors had taken a five shot lead. McCandless was now all square, Shanks was now ahead by three, S.G. had turned things around to lead by seven while McKenny was down by five.

In the final six ends McCandless drew a great shot in the last end to win by two, McKenny finished 11 down, Shanks lost by two and SG finished two down. The season finished with no home wins.

- In the away game against Ballynafiegh the Dromore junior team took all seven points.

B. Clingham, who took over from T. Sudlow and aided by E. Walker, J. Elliott and H. Maxwell wrote themselves into the history book by winning 19 of the 21 ends. They were ahead by 13 at the half way stage, 22 at the three quarter stage and 34 in the end.

K. Aiken, along with T. Ogle, S. Harrison and J. Topping also did very well. They were six to the good at halfway, nine at three quarters and a winning card of 15 in the end.

A. Sudlow was just a single ahead after 10 ends, eight ahead after 15 and finished with a seven shot margin in the end.

The best game of the evening was Sam Malcomson, who was one ahead at the halfway mark, two ahead at three quarters and had a winning margin of four. The other members of the rink were G. Beggs, J. Noddings and T. Gribben.

The final match of the season is at home against 58th Old Boys and could be the deciding game who wins the Division Six crown.
