Another impressive victory for Kealey

LAST Tuesday night saw the first of the Bann Wheelers Club's 25 mile time trials over two laps of the Ballybogy-Dervock circuit.

Ten riders took part in the senior event and two in the youth event. In the senior event, Sean Kealey put in an impressive display, riding strongly throughout the event and recorded a fast time of 57.29.

It is evident the big man will take minutes off this time when he gets onto the fast Woodgreen course.

Portrush man, Sharman Crawford also put in an impressive ride, in his first attempt at the 25 mile distance Sharman recorded an excellent time of 1.00.57. You can put your mortgage on it that Sharman will break the hour for this event before the end of the season!

Another rider steadily improving as the season progresses is Robert Kennedy. Robert clocked 1.02.19. Ballymoney man, Mark Wilkenson continues to improve, Mark suffered a broken foot over the winter, which subsequently impacted upon his training, however, he is steadily returning to top form and crossed the line in 1.04.48.

Russell Callaghan also competed in the event and recorded a time of 1.06.16. Young Davy Park rode a solid 25 in 1.08.16. James (Cavendish) Thompson has certainly got a taste for the racing, passing the timekeeper in 1.09.13.

Nigel Kerr also produced a strong ride 1.10.16. Newcomer, Michael Davies also recorded a fast time 1.10.13. Colm McIlfatrick’s form is also improving, 1.11.16.

Youth Event

Under 14 riders Brandon Herald and Ailbhe Kendall took part in a 5 mile TT on the same night.

Both recorded personal bests for the distance. Brandon completed the course in 14.30 and Ailbhe in 15.51.

Under 14 rider, Blayne Watton travelled to Newry on Sunday to compete in the Newry Youth Races.

Blayne reported feeling heavy legged from the start of his race and lost contact with the main group in the second of four laps but finished the event. However, Blayne looks forward to his next open race and hopes to be in better form.
