On Saturday, athletes from the club put in superb performances at the Carrickfergus parkrun, with six members in total completing the course. Charlie McCormick crossed the line in fifth place, with a fantastic time of 20:33 (PB). McCormick was followed by Richard Heatherington in 21:03 (PB), Andrew Smyth in 24:51, Neil Harper with a time of 25:11 (PB), Marie Nicholson in 28:31 (PB) and Karen McMaster with 31:58 (PB).

Further afield, Ian Cleland ran the Harrogate parkrun. The three-lap course is set in The Stray – 200 acres of open grassland and verges - and Cleland finished in an impressive 20:46.

Bobbie Irvine chose the Londonderry parkrun course this week, putting in a sterling performance to cross the line in second place overall with a time of 19:16.

Irvine then travelled to Benone Strand to join fellow Seapark AC members in the Born2Run Surf’N’Turf half-marathon event. The multi-terrain event treated runners to a mixture of road, beach and boardwalk and included a hill definitely not for the faint-hearted. At the time of writing results are not available.

Seapark AC meets Tuesday and Thursday at 7 pm at Carrickfergus Cricket Club, Middle Road. Runners of all abilities are invited to come along and will be given a warm welcome.

The club also currently runs a Jog Carrickfergus beginners’ programme. This programme is suitable for all levels – those new to running, recovering from injury or returning from a break. The programme runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6 – 7 pm at locations around Carrickfergus.
