Another successful weekend for racer Thompson at Kirkistown

Local racing driver Wilson Thompson had another very successful weekend at Kirkistown qualifying his car on the front row of the grid for both Ginetta races on Saturday.

Wilson took the lead of the first race passing the pole position man around the outside of the first corner and led the race the whole way until one lap from the end when he was hit hard from behind and spun onto the grass. Thankfully he was able to recover and finished the race in third place.

Wilson was happy to get the points for third place but very disappointed he did not get the win that he had fought hard to get.

In race two, Wilson started on the front row again, taking the lead in the first corner and this time he kept the lead the whole way finishing first, so he still retains his lead of the 2014 Ginetta Junior Ireland championship.

The next three rounds, (six races) are all to be held at the Mondello Park race circuit just outside Naas in the Republic of Ireland and the first of these kicks off with testing on Friday July 11.

Wilson cannot wait for the next race and is already looking over video footage of his past races to see where he can gain time and gain any advantage, however small.
