Another title for Clanns

CLANN Eireann U18 girls won the County Minor Championship making it a clean sweep of all Armagh Championships for the Lurgan club.

They played Dromintee in the final at a soggy Tullysaran.

The Lurgan girls led from the start and were not to be overtaken by the south Armagh girls for the rest of the game.

Playing with the slope in the first half Clann Eireann were able to amass a score of 4-6 to Dromintee’s 0-8 by the half-time whistle.

Dromintee, last year’s winners, were in no mood to give up their crown easily and made a determined effort in the second half to claw back the 10 point deficit.

However, lady luck did not favour them as they twice hit the woodwork and watched as several chances just went narrowly wide.

Clann Eireann stuck to their task and with time running out for Dromintee, the Lurgan girls finished strongly to claim the

2011 Minor Cup, on a final scoreline of 6-10 to 3-11.

This was Clann Eireann Ladies fifth Championship win for 2011, having previously claimed the U13, U14, U16 and senior titles and in fact completing a clean sweep of County Championships.

Clann Eireann girls Niamh Coleman and Aiobhinn Henderson each collected their fourth championship medal of 2011, adding the minor one to their U13, U14 and U16 medals.
