Another victory for Sean

Cycling

BANN Wheelers Cycling Club held a five mile time trial on the Colins Circuit last Tuesday night and local man Sean Kealey produced another excellent ride to win the event.

Sean passed the timekeeper in 11 minutes and 9 seconds, taking 21 seconds off his fastest time for the distance.

This was a very fast time considering that the course has a few drags and the road surface on the outward part of the course is poor.

The result makes Sean the clear winner of the Bann Wheelers Best All Rounder for the time trial discipline.

Two riders shared second place in their second year of competitive cycling. Sharman Crawford and Stephen McAllister of Ballymoney CC clocked 11.40.

Sharman has certainly excelled in the time trial discipline this year and will undoubtedly further improve next season, Stephen has also had an excellent season, winning two open road races.

James Mullan of Roe Valley produced an excellent ride to take fourth place in 11.58. Another rider who has improved greatly over the season is young Damien Hazlett and he took fifth place in 12.26.

Another newcomer, Portstewart man, Ciaran Mullan, has ridden consistently all season and completed the five mile distance in 12.29, to take sixth place.

Nigel Kerr showed consistent improvement in the sport and produced another good ride to finish in 12.44.

Derek McMenemy clocked another fast time of 12.47 and newcomers Charlie Wright and James Thompson also performed well on the night with times of 12.53 and 13.18 respectively.

Kay Hack, 13.31, Colm McIlfatrick, 13.47 and fourteen year old Brandon Herald went under fourteen minutes for the first time recording a time of 13.57.

Jack Hutchinson produced a solid ride to cross the line in 14.51 closely followed by Alistair Robinson in 15.14.
