Another weekend of inactivity for Ballyclare and Parkview

THE hockey girls of the two senior clubs in the Six Mile Valley area had another weekend of inactivity.

The Ballyclare Ladies senior side should have been in Comber to fulfil a Senior League Section 1 fixture against North Down Ladies but it was postponed, as was the second XI's trip to Antrim Forum to play Randalstown III in a Junior League Section 2 match.

Miriam Weatherup's 3rd XI had been scheduled to be away to Dungannon III in a Junior League Section 5 fixture, but like the other two it was a victim of the adverse weather conditions.

Over in Doagh, the Parkview Ladies seniors had a free Saturday, but Karen Manson's 2nd XI should have entertained Grosvenor III on the gravel pitch at Ballyclare High School, which however, was declared unplayable.

Both Doagh teams will be involved in knockout competitions this weekend when Susie Weir's seniors will be off to Comber where they take on North Down II in the Qualifying Plate, while the 2nd XI clash with Grosvenor III in Belfast, with a place in the quarter-final of the Junior Cup at stake.

The 'Clare 1st XI under the captaincy of Nikki Kempton have a home league fixture on Saturday afternoon against Dromore at Foundry Lane, but the 2nd and 3rd XIs will be idle owing to having a bye in the Qualifying Plate and the Junior Plate respectively.
