Another win for South Antrim Ladies 2s

South Antrim Ladies Seconds continued the winning form they have picked up since settling into their new home at Friends School with a 2-1 victory over Donaghadee.

South showed they were keen to build on their recent win against Ballymena from the start as Danielle Heasley, battling to finish the season as top goal scorer, attacked from the whistle.

She bagged the first goal as she ghosted past two defenders and slipped the ball past the Donaghadee keeper. Hoping to build on their lead, South continued to attack as Danielle sent a great strike across the goals only to see it whistle narrowly wide of the post.

Although Donaghadee tried to push forward, the South defence proved too strong with Emer Drayne and Louise Boyd clearing the ball well to start another attack launching into the Donaghadee circle.

Rachel O’Sullivan, working tirelessly in midfield caused problems for the Donaghadee defence and only for some outstanding saves by the Donaghadee keeper, South could have built on their lead through Laura McConnell managing to get more shots in on goal.

Natalie Lowry, helping to build play down the right, continued to push forward and managed to get the ball to Cathy Gillis, who slotted the ball past the keeper to bag her first goal in her debut season with the Junior Club.

Donaghadee managed to get a consolation goal towards the end of the game as they made a final attempt to save something from the match. However, South held on to claim another win.

South thanked Brian Wilson for umpiring and congratulated Natalie Lowry as player of the match.
