Archery beginners course

FOLLOWING their recent success at both local and national competitions, Causeway Company of Archers is holding a beginners course in March.

The course will be held on Monday nights and will consist of one hour sessions over a six week period. Beginners will receive instruction in barebow archery where there is just the basic bow with no aids or sight attached.

This will then progress to freestyle archery, where the addition of a sight is included with the purpose of making the job of hitting gold slightly easier!

Beginners will be given the opportunity to shoot all types of bows; the longbow of Robin Hood fame, the Olympic recurve, as seen at all major competitions and finally, Hollywood’s favourite, the compound bow, easily recognisable from Elektra, Blade Trinity and even Rambo.

Safety is always important and the participants will learn how to safely assemble the bows and will also be instructed on the safety requirements and commands of the shooting range itself. Everyone who sucessfully complete the course will be rewarded with a certificate from the club.

Hopefully after completion of the course participants will look towards joining the club. The Causeway Company of Archers has all the equipment needed for new archers to continue shooting after the beginners course without having to immediatley go out and purchase their own kit.

Archery is an inclusive sport and can be enjoyed on both a social and competitive level. It is a great sport for the whole family with mums, dads and children all taking part together.
