Archery beginners courses on target

TWO Archery Beginners courses finished recently at The Range Archery Centre in Ballymoney. (Home of The Causeway Company of Archers). All participants are required to complete a six week programme containing all aspects of Range Safety, Personal Safety, Shooting Technique and Equipment Analysis.

One of those courses was the very first Archery Course for the Disabled. This is a new joint venture between Archery GB Coach Chris Macfadyen (Causeway Company of Archers) and The Riding for the Disabled (RDA) based in Coleraine. It is hoped that the successful students involved with this course will form an Archery Club named The OWLS Archery Club. (Opportunities Without Limits). This club will also be based in Ballymoney and will be available for those with disabilities and their carers/parents. Club Coach Chris would like to congratulate all those who received their Certificates and for showing fantastic patience, commitment and determination to complete their course.

Those who completed the course and attended their final assessment were awarded with their Certificate of Merit in Basic Archery. This is a formal Certification which entitles the holder to apply for membership of their local club or any other club in the UK.

All Archery Club members registered through Archery GB will have completed this mandatory course. This ensures that all those Archers within Clubs are all of a certain standard and therefore not a safety risk. Each member is allowed to shoot at any other club within the Archery Society if in possession of a current and valid Membership Card.

The Causeway Company of Archers is currently compiling a waiting list for their next Beginners Course due to start soon. If you are interested in attending this course then please contact Club Coach Chris on 07904065250 or Club Coach Marie on 07765141528.
