Armoy lose out in Belfast

THE Armoy 1st XV were on the road again this week to play Ophir in Belfast.

Unfortunately within 10 minutes, the men from Limepark had lost 2 players through injury and with substitutions not being allowed an overlap was regularly exploited by the home side.

At one point Armoy were down to 12 men on the park due to injuries.

A well drilled Ophir team took advantage of their opportunities and despite resolute defending were able to secure the league win.

Away from the pitch, Armoy secured the special merit award at the Moyle Sports Awards on Saturday night and were recognised for their achievements in rugby winning the league title 2 years in a row.

This Saturday sees a rest week for the 1st XV and it’s over to the PowerNI 2nd XV to take up the mantle away in the cup to Enniskillen.
