Athlete makes his Mark with another PB

IN-FORM Ballymena athlete Mark Hall recorded his second personal best performance in successive weeks.

Following his exploits in Belfast the previous Sunday at the Laganside 10k, Mark went one step further when he travelled to Derry to take part in the Waterside half marathon.

Despite the strong winds sweeping the undulating course, he managed to eclipse his previous best for the distance by a staggering 8 mins 30secs to finish in a time of 1hr 50min 25secs.

Mark was one of a trio of local runners in action last Sunday. He was accompanied by his namesake Mark Montgomery who was making his debut at the distance.

Using the event as a long training run as he continued his preparations for the forthcoming Athens Marathon he crossed the line in 2hr 4min 57sec.

The trio was made up with talented young female athlete Caroline Flanaghan who was also making her debut at the distance. Caroline produced a fantastic performance to finish well up the field in the female open, crossing the line in 1hr 51min 29sec.

The group are all members of Gregory Walsh’s running club who are based at the Michelin Atheletic Club.
