The event always draws big numbers and this year almost 1,100 runners took part in the race. Although a fairly flat route, which takes in many of the city’s maritime landmarks, as well as Victoria Park, the strong head winds made running difficult.

Glenn Smart and Graeme O’Hara, who are in fine form, paced themselves well, and worked together to cross the line in impressive times of 43:40 and 43:42 respectively. O’Hara achieved his in a well-deserved PB.

Louise Smart was the first Harriers lady home with a strong time of 45:17. Martin Graham (54:20), Jennifer Moore (55:23 pb), Eileen Stewart (1:05:35), and Lesley Browne, in only her second 10k race, and acting as sighted guide for Tony Barclay (1:13:07), also performed well.

Eleven Harriers took part in six parkruns across County Antrim on Saturday.

Grace Startin travelled to Stormont; Natasha Henderson (1F), Lynette McBride (PB) and Martina Armstrong were in action at Ecos; Ricky Mason had his visit to Ormeau; Heather White and Mandy Yau-Wilson took part at the Antrim event; Graeme O’Hara ran at Carrickfergus; Carol Annesley achieved a PB and 2nd Female at Valley; while Tony Barclay, continuing his tour of parkruns, and Ruth Morrison (1F) represented the club at Colin Glen for the first time.
