ATHLETICS: Bronze joy for Springwell’s Gillian

SPRINGWELL’S Gillian Wasson was a member of the Northern Ireland team which won a bronze medal at the McCain’s Mountain Challenge on Saturday.

Earning her second international vest, Gillian completed the 10K uphill fell race at Melmerby in 1:01:40.

Springwell’s Chris Denton (18:41) was the first runner home at the third Portrush Parkrun on Saturday. Karen McLaughlin 23:31 (PB) was the first lady home. Conditions were again good for the 5K run and a lot of PB for the course were recorded.

Hugh Deighan (1:40:37) was Springwell’s sole representative at the Dublin Half Marathon in Phoenix Park on Saturday 15 September. The race was won by Joe McAllister (St. Malachy’s) who crossed the finish line in a time of 1:10:08.
