Organised by Lagan Valley A.C., the Series is Northern Ireland’s largest athletic series, open to all young people aged eight and up.
“The final meet was a culmination of the athletes’ hard work and ongoing development over the last few months and thankfully the sun shone on us for our final gathering,” said Angeline Murphy of firmus energy.
“Since the first event in the Series in April, the young participants have achieved so much, many improving times and technique with each passing event.

“It has been great to see so many people involved across the six meets and we appreciate the support for the Series, which offers budding athletes a great opportunity to ‘have a go’ to see if they might enjoy track and field events. More seasoned competitors have the chance to compete against others of the same level from across Northern Ireland, an opportunity they may not otherwise have.”
Bryan McCorkell from Lagan Valley Athletics Club, added: “We are delighted with the success of this year’s Series and the commitment and dedication of all of the athletes who took part over the six events.

“The success of the athletes from Team GB and the Irish Olympic Team at the recent Games in Rio has really inspired everyone and encouraged our young competitors at this final meet for 2016 to dig deep and find that little bit extra resulting in many personal bests being achieved.
“Congratulations to each and every one of our young athletes who took part this year and we will return in the spring of 2017 for next year’s Series and hope to see a lot of familiar faces returning for another season.”
