ATHLETICS: County Antrim Harriers round-up

At the Fairhill 5-mile Road Race the Harriers dug deep to deliver strong performances.

Special mention goes to those who took on the distance for the first time, particularly Janet Barr-Crandles who recently completed the club’s Couch to 5k programme. Times: Colin Tuff (32:33); Graeme O’Hara (34:47); Natasha Henderson (35:05), Sarah Kinnear (39:02), Dean McBride (40:24), Carol Annesley (40:55), Lynette McBride (41:32), and Janet Barr-Crandles (55:36).

On the parkrun scene, 18 Harriers took part in eight events across County Antrim. Special mention to Stephen Sweet, Rhonda Barkley and Johnny Loughead on their parkrun debuts; and to Brian McFall, Fiona McGowan, Carol Conn, Charlotte Higgins, and Lynette McBride on their parkrun PBs.

Sunday saw 11 Harriers (including 3 marathon debutants), take part in the Walled City Marathon, Londonderry. The Harriers, buoyed by the support of fellow club members and the crowds, all ran well and finished strongly. Times: Ross McGowan (3:58:20); Peter Graham (4:05:24); Andrena Berry (4:07:11); Louise Smart (4:30:58); Christine Neeson (4:31:05); Marian Hayes (5:40:35); Marion Morrow (5:52:19 debut); Diane McCartney (5:48:35 debut); Kim Gleave (6:15:03); Martina Toal (6:21:18); and Eileen Stewart (6:22:55 3rd F60 debut).
