ATHLETICS: Murray leads the way for County Antrim Harriers

Saturday saw the start of the new cross country season and five ladies from County Antrim Harriers dusted off their spikes to take part in the Comber Cup.

The 6k route was challenging but the ladies put in strong performances. Christine Murray raced well to finish in 27:28. She was followed by Natasha Henderson in her first race following injury (30.17). Next home was Gillian Orr (31:17), then Helen Baird (31:18) and Carol Annesley (32:45).

On the parkrun scene, CAH was represented at five different locations. Special mention goes to Heather White who completed her 150th parkrun at Waterworks. Graeme O’Hara marked his 50th parkrun at Carrick with a personal best 21:21.

The canine members of CAH had the opportunity to compete in Sunday’s ‘Waggy Races’ 5k at the beautiful Montalto Estate, Co Down. Louise Smart and Dexter performed well to claim third overall. Cathy Hopkins with Fred, Kathrine McAllister with Tilly, and Eileen Stewart with Jack, also had great runs.
