Back-to-back Double titles for all-conquering Thatch

Well, it’s official. After 24 weeks, Thatch have retained their Larne Pool League title to go with their earlier Knockout Cup success, completing two successive doubles.

Bryan McWhirter’s men comfortably defeated the No. 1 Reds 12-3 helped along the way with hat-tricks from Ryan McKillop and Alan Johnston.

Thatch will now go on to defend their Champion of Champions crown in Coleraine and will be joined by the Saints who confirmed second spot with a 10-5 win over the No. 1 Blues.

Ibrox stay third after an 11-4 win at Thatch Rockets, with Stephen McWhirter and Dessie Cooper chipping in with trebles. Their closest challengers for third, No. 1 Club, eased past the Feathers 12-3, thanks to hat-tricks from Ellis Martin, William Irvine and Eddie Gribben.

The Gers took full advantage of a weakened St Comgall’s side to secure a 15-0 whitewash with Stuart Houston, Alan Murray and Colin Wilson pocketing three frames each.

Station Bar won the last session 4-1 to beat Ruby’s 9-6, helped along the way by a Danny McKendry treble.

The closest match of the night took place at Q Club were the basement boys BSQ Rangers gave a good account of themselves to get to a play-off frame.

Michael McCowan and Jordan Peoples landed hat-tricks, but that wasn’t enough to secure a point as the hosts claimed victory, winning the play-off frame.
