Ballela U12 camogs get season off to a winner

Ballela U12 camogs got their league campaign off to a great start with a win over Newry Shamrocks.

From the first whistle to the final whistle the girls worked hard all over the pitch tackling hassling and fighting for every ball and won 4-0 to 2-0.

From the word go, the Ballela camogs battled all over the pitch with the backs being put under pressure but Catherine, Aoibhe and Kerri stood strong to not allow Newry in with a chance of scoring.

It wasn’t until a fine piece of skill from Orlaith who drove the ball up the field to set up Tara for the opening score.

From then on Ballela had their tails up. Orlaith again found space on the wing an picked the ball up and struck the back of the net for a second goal.

Newry came racing back down the pitch but some good defensive play from Catherine and Aiobhe cut out the scoring chance.

An injury to Catherine saw some changes on the team; she was pulled into nets and Aiofe moved to the back line where she worked her socks of along with Anna to minimize the Newry scoring chances.

The second half saw the Ballela camogs start of the same as they had finished the first half working hard however this could not stop Newry from scoring two goals.

The Ballela girls rallied hard and managed to get the ball forward were Emer had been busy all day hassling and getting tackles in along with Lucy.

Lucy fed the ball to Orlaith to shoot and she struck the back of the net.

From the puck out Kerri who had now been moved to midfield hassled her player to she won the ball and passed it off again to Orlaith to set up another score just before the final whistle.

This was a great win for the girls.
