Ballela’s hurlers net eight goals in a storming win

Ballela’s senior hurlers got their Ulster League off to a great start with a big 8-17 to 0-4 win over Camlough.

Camlough started off with the first score, a long range free but Ballea’s next four scores were four goals.

The first was set up by Ryan McCusker who burst through from midfield to set up Malaghy Magee who made no mistake .Jonathan Mc Cusker was next as he drew the Camlough defence and passed to Malaghy for his second goal.

The next goal was set up by Malaghy for young Declan Mc Crory who was making his senior debut and he smashed a unstoppable shot to the roof of the net.

Points followed from the outstanding Nial Burns 0-2, Dan Mc Cusker 0-2 and Jonathan Mc Cusker 0-4. Camlough scored other free but the Ballela full back line of Richard Cosgrave, Gareth Burns, Mark Cosgrave were excellent and was the half back line of Niall Burns, Dan Mc Cusker and Mick Doyle.

Three more goals followed soon from the Ballela county stars Jonathan Mc Cusker 2-0 and Malaghy Magee 1-0 to leave the half time score Ballela 6-9 Camlough 0-2.

The second half started with Ballela making a few chances. Stephen McCusker and Peter Cosgrave replaced Jonathan McCusker and Mick Doyle but with the excellent midfield pairing of Ryan McCusker and Adam Harrision driving forward, the scoreboard ticked over with points from Niall Burns 0-3, Ryan Mc Cusker 0-2 and other great goal from Declan Mc Crory who was set up by Aron Faulkner.

Fair play to Camlough, they didn’t give up as they pushed for goals but Gary Mc Mullan pulled off two great saves to keep a clean sheet.
