Ballycastle seal Olympic win

A great win for the senior team on Saturday in the Steele and Sons Shield against a very strong Ballymoney Olympic.

Ballycastle United got the perfect start when the excellent Saul McCaughan beat the keeper in the 1st minute.

Chances fell to James McLister, Ryan McKillop and Conleth McCaughan and the team should have been well ahead in the first twenty minutes.

The pressure paid off when McKillop, who is on a great run of goal scoring, finished off a move involving McCaughan and McLister.

Olympic pulled a goal back in injury time when they were awarded a penalty which was converted by Ricky Dunlop.

McKillop made the game safe when he got his second goal.

The game was very open with both sides pushing for goals and it was good hard football by both teams. Stephen McIlroy was alert in goals and pulled off some good saves.

When he was beaten the team had Conor Woods to thank with some fantastic defending to deny Olympic late goals.

A good display all round from the boys with the defence very strong and well led by Shane Kelly and Sol Fox along with Paul Boyle. Ronan Boyle, Kieran Collins, Conleth McCaughan and McKillop all fought well in midfield and McLister led the line up front with Saul McCaughan linking well.
