Ballycastle United thump Portstewart

It was a good day for Ballycastle United on Saturday who thumped Portstewart 10-2.

Goals from Ryan McKillop (3), Ronan Boyle, Barry Connor, Daniel Mooney, Conleth McCaughan (2) and Saul McCaughan (2) gave Ballycastle their best scoreline for years.

A close first half when Portstewart went ahead in the 28th minute.

The warning signs had been there with Stephen McIlroy pulling off a couple of good saves early in the half.

United were level in the 35th minute when Ryan McKillop penalised some poor defending to tap the ball into the empty net.

Saul McCaughan hit the post and Sean Paul Connor shot just wide as they got into their stride.

In the second half it was all Ballycastle with Conleth McCaughan slotting home two penalties.

Saul McCaughan intercepted a back pass to make it 4-1. Daniel Mooney scored in the 23rd minute after good interplay with Neil McAuley and Ryan McKillop.

McKillop got his second goal in the 33rd minute and one minute later Ronan Boyle was rewarded for his work when he coolly slotted the ball past the keeper into the corner of the net.

McCaughan got his second after being set up by Ryan McKillop then Barry Connor ran from his own half to finish off a great move to make it 9-2.

McKillop completed the scoring with his hat-trick goal followng good interplay with Daniel Mooney.
