Ballyclare off to a flyer as they pocket win over Greenbank

The new Larne and District Snooker League season got under way this week with Ballyclare Golf Club ‘A’ off to a flyer thanks to a 5-0 win over Greenbank A. Darren Agnew, J McKay (28), Trevor Mairs, Stevie Higgins and Tommy Bamber were all in the swing for the golfers.

Carrick Golf Club ‘B’ took full points against Mill Brae outfit St John’s. William Hill Junior (22), Jim Green, Harry Wade, Colin Spence and Mikey Jones all won their frames.

The Point also made a good start to their campaign with a 4-1 victory over Carrick ‘A’. Graham Ferguson (30), Aaron McKee, Jim Boyle and Steven Girvan (22) pocketed wins, with Gavin Baker responding for the golfers.

New boys Q-Club A will be a bit disappointed at losing their first match away at Linfield in Ballyclare. Michael Kane and Ryan McKillop got the two frames for the Q-Club with Raymond Forsythe, Billy Parke and Willy Stewart on form for the Blues.

Ballylumford got the better of last year’s runners-up Latharna with a 3-2 home win. Jim Magill, M. McWilliams and Darren McNeill recorded wins, with Raymond Weir (31) and Billy Millar chalking up frames for Latharna.

Greenbank ‘B’ edged to a 3-2 win over Ballyclare OB. I Adrian, R Johnston and Billy McNeilly all won, with Declan McClean and Noel Vennard replying for the visitors.

Reigning champions St Comgall’s were handed a bye. There was no result submitted to the league secretary for Q-Club B’s clash with Ballyclare ‘B’.
