Ballyclare see off Linfield to stay top

Ballyclare Golf Club ‘A’ remain top of the Larne and District Snooker league after recording their fifth win of the season, beating neighbours Linfield 3-2.

Stevie Higgins, Trevor Mairs and David Lyness won for the golfers with Gary Rutherford and John Ferguson responding for the Blues.

St Comgall’s move up into third thanks to a fine 4-1 away success at Q-Club B. Wins for C O’Toole (35), Alphonsus McIlwaine, Gary Johnstone (35) and Bertie Pill with ex-St Comgall’s player Damien Steele won for the Snooker Club with a break of 25.

Ballyclare Golf Club ‘B’ remain fifth despite a 3-2 defeat against Ballyclare Old Boys. Jim Taylor and Ian Wallace won their frames with Darren Vennard, Declan McClean and Stevie Crymble victorious for the visitors.

Ballylumford lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a fine 4-1 win over St John’s. Jim Magill (20), Paul Wylie (22), Darren McNeill and Davy Irwin claimed frame wins for Lumford, while Andy Reid pulled one back for the Saints.

Greenbank ‘A’ are nestled in a mid-table position after their 3-2 win against Carrick A. Pete McCaffrey, Wayne Harper and Davy Douglas (26) were all on target with Ricky Bradley (22) and Derick Newell winning for the visitors.

Elsewhere, Carrick ‘B’ beat The Point 3-2 thanks to wins from Mickey Jones, Jim Greene and Tommy Bond. The Point ran them close with Gary McNeill and Steven Girvan (31) pocketing a frame each.

There was no result submitted for Latharna v Q-Club ‘A’. Greenbank ‘B’ had a bye.
