In the same competition Raceview continued their impressive start to the season winning away to Lurgan Town Boys while Brantwood travelled to Desertmartin and won but Ballynure lost on their travels away Strabane & Sion Swifts.

Best Wishes

Best wishes are extended to the 1st Mossley player Andy McCrae for a quick recovery. Andy unfortunately suffered a fractured fibula on the 44th minute of their game on Saturday. To date this has been the worst year on record for Serious Injuries reported within the league as this brings the total to Nine. Hopefully all these players making good recovery and will be back in action as soon as possible.

INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE

NEWTOWNE 6 CLOUGH RANGERS ATHLETIC 1

Newtowne took the lead on the 15th minute when Gary Moore scored then doubled their lead after Dave Henderson scored on the 30th minute giving the home side a two goal cushion at half-time. Gary Moore made it three nil for Newtowne on the 55th minute but Clough got back into the game with a goal scored on the 65th minute. Gary Moore then scored brace of goals to bring his tally to four on the 75th and 80th minute followed by Blaine Morrison scoring the final goal in the game on the 85th minute.

NEWTOWNABBEY FC 2 DUNLOY 4

Dunloy were soon into their stride in this game and a hat-trick from Benny McGarry saw then three goals in front at half-time. Newtownabbey got back into the game after Jackie Moore scored early in the second half but Conor McKinley replied for Dunloy scoring the fourth soon after wards. Newtownabbey never gave up the chase but only pierced the Dunloy defence once when Robert Lavelle scored. Referee Mr. Jim Holden

FC BALLYNURE 4 KILBRIDE SWIFTS 3

This was a cracking game played on a brilliant surface at Seacliff in Larne and was also a credit to both teams who gave it their all for the ninety minutes. Ballynure took the lead after Phil Hall scored but this was cancelled out after Glenn Miskimmin scored for Kilbride. Ballynure then went in front after Nigel Tweed scored but back came Kilbride to equalise when Mark Tweedie scored before half-time. Ballynure took the lead again in the second half when Phil Hall scored his second goal but Kilbride came back to equalise for a third time with Glenn Miskimmin scoring. After this both teams went all-out for the winner which went the way of Ballynure after Ben Fletcher scored on the 84th minute.

IRISH CUP ROUND ONE

CARNINY AMATEURS 3 SAINTFIELD UNITED 2

What a win this was for Carniny in their first Irish Cup tie and certainly had their Committee Members beaming at the end. After soaking up pressure from Saintfield Carniny took the lead when Ryan Wilkinson met a cross from Gordy Dillon on the 27th minute curly the ball into the top corner of the Saintfield net. Carniny continued to push forward then on the 34th minute Graham Adams headed the ball on for Gordy Dillon to score. Things got better for Carniny on the 37th minute when a Barry Hamill free kick was met by Steven O’Neil who headed in at the back post. Though three goals down Saintfield were always a threat and pulled a goal back on the 67th minute. After this Carniny tightened up at the back and only conceding a second goal on the 85th minute.

LURGAN TOWN BOYS 0 RACEVIEW 2

This was their 7th win on the trot for Raceview and what a start they have made to the season after re-building in the summer. Raceview got off to a great start when Rodney Paul put Colin Craig in to score on the 6th minute. With this early goal Raceview kept going forward and this paid off on the 22nd minute after Jonny Hume made a good run on the left before crossing in for Rodney Paul to score. Half-time saw Raceview still two goals to the good and though the home side pushed forward a lot in the second half Raceview held on to their two goal lead to win.

DESERTMARTIN 1 BRANTWOOD 5

Unfortunately the result of this game meant we had to lose a team from the competition and on the 2nd minute Brantwood showed their intentions when Ciaran Carson scored. Brantwood doubled their lead on the 25th minute when Josh McCleneghan scored but Desertmartin his back on the 26th minute with Andy Kelso scoring a good goal but then was sent off minutes later for retaliation though he claimed he was the victim of a head butt. As half-time was the approaching Ciaran Carson scored his second goal on the 41st minute and with the man advantage Brantwood made good use of this with Steven Bainbridge scoring a brace of goals on the 51st and 55th minutes.

STAR BANE & SION SWIFTS 4 BALLYNURE OLD BOYS 2

The home side took a two goals lead early in the first-half but prior to half-time Ronnie Burns scored for Ballynure. In the second half the home side did a repeat of the first by scoring two more goals that more or less settled the tie though Steven Trimble gave Ballynure hope when he scored their second goal but alas this was their last goal.

JUNIOR DIVISION ONE

CHIMNEY CORNER RES 0 BALLYMONEY UNITED RES 0

These two teams met in their first league game of the season and it turned out to be like a walk in the park for Ballymoney who won easily. This time around it was a lot different as both teams played a lot of sparkling football but the only thing missing was goals. Referee Mr. Mark O’Neil

KILLYMOON RANGERS RES 2 MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUE RES 1

This result saw Killymoon do the league double over the Sky Blues who are not a deadly around the goals as they were last season. Killymoon took the lead after Craig Martin scored on the 25th minute and then doubled their lead after William Montgomery scored on the 35th minute to lead two nil at half-time. The second half saw the Sky Blues have plenty of the attacking play but they only managed to break Killymoon down one when Steven O’Neil scored on the 80th minute. Referee Mr. Adrian Dodds

RED STAR 1 3rd BALLYCLARE OLD BOYS 2

The Old Boys were early on the attack taking the lead after John Davey head into the top corner of the Red Star net on the 9th minute. Red Star came back strongly getting back on level terms with a goal scored on the 17th minute and at half-time the teams were still level. The second half saw little to choose between the teams except the winning goal headed in by John Davy for the Old Boys on the 75th minute. Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC 17 CARNLOUGH SWIFTS 0

The Olympic were always on top tin this game going in nine goals in front at half-time. The second half was almost a repetition of the first with eight goals scored. Scorers for Cookstown were, Ricky McMenemy 4, Mark Loughran 4, Ryan Devlin 3, Conor O’Hare 2, Ryan O’Neil 2, Liam Hoy 1 and Ruari Scullin 1.

FC LARNE 2 WOODLANDS 2

This was a very close game with a share of the points at the end probably a fair result. FC Larne scored on the 17th and 25th minutes Cameron Rhys bagging a brace with Woodlands goals being scored by Jonny Parkes and Jay Pollock.

A brace of goals scored by Billy Nelson on the 16th and 34th minutes saw Carnmoney take a strong hold in the game. Newtownabbey pulled a goal back on the 43rd minute but two more goals for Carnmoney scored by Ricky Thompson and Craig Montgomery on the 50th and 643rd minutes saw Carnmoney sew the game up though Newtownabbey got a second goal on the 85th minute. BALLYCLARE NORTH END RES 3 FC BALLYNURE YM 4

Ballynure took the lead after Josh Bradley scored on the 10th minute but then a brace of goals scored by Aaron Gilmore saw North End go in front. Ballynure then drew level after Warren Anderson scored and took the lead when Rob McMaster scored their third goal. Warren Simpson then made it four for Ballynure before Danny McFarlane scored a third for North End near the end of the game. Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins

1st MOSSLEY YM 4 CARNINY AMATEURS II 2

This was a very good game but was blighted by the injury to Andy McCrae on the 44th minute. Mossley took the lead on the 40th minute when Barry Moore scored and added to this when Marcus Watson scored on the 46th minute. Aaron Armstrong and Marcus Watson made it four for Mossley with goals on the 55th and 56th minutes though Carniny came back with two goals scored by Barry Simpson on the 71st and 80th minutes. 14th NEWTOWNABBEY 2 CARRICKFERGUS YOUNG CITIZENS 3

Though both teams had chances to score no goals were scored during the first-half of this game. The Citizens took the lead early in the second half when Ricky Coulter scored but then saw Dave Johnston score the equaliser for Newtownabbey. The Citizens than went two goals clear with goals scored by Jon McKinley and Ricky Coulter and held this advantage until Martin Jackson scored for Newtownabbey with time running out. CRAWFORD CUP ROUND ONE

RASHARKIN UNITED 21 METRO YM 0

Rasharkin who have made a good start to their Intermediate campaign with five wins from five played put Metro to the sword on Saturday scoring ten goals in the first-half and eleven in the second. Rasharkin goals were scored by Ryan Boyd 6, William Beckett 4, Lee Barr 4, Ryan Craig 4, Joe Nicholl, Joe Patton 1 and Gareth Clyde 1.

LARNE OLYMPIC 3 ENCORE FC 1

In a very closely contested first-half neither team got on the score sheet then on the 50th minute Andy Holden scored to put the Olympic in front. Karl Houston made it two nil for the Olympic on the 70th minute before Encore pulled a goal back on the 85th minute. Time was then running out when Andy Holden ensured the win for Larne when scoring his second goal on the 90th minute. Referee Mr. Brian Leitch

MALLUSK ATHLETIC 1 MOYOLA PARK OLYMPIC 2

Moyola started off on the attack going on to take the lead on the 11th minute when Michael McClean chipped the home keeper. Moyola held the single goal lead until the 30th minute when Matthew West scored direct from a free kick doubling the Moyola advantage. The game then went into the second half with Mallusk applying a lot of pressure on Moyola but it was 86th minute before they got the goal scored by Alan McCartney but by then it was too late. WAKEHURST STROLLERS 2 REMO FC After Extra Time 3

The Strollers took a two goal lead in this game with goals scored by Darren Rodgers and Stuart McCartney and it appeared this would see them through. Remo came back strongly and goals scored by Jon Moanan and Eoin Bradley saw them level the game to take it into extra-time. Both teams had chances to win the game in extra-time but only one was scored by Steven McGregor to win the game for Remo. Referee Mr. Martin Bellew

IRISH JUNIOR CUP ROUND ONE

BALLYCLARE NORTH END 1 CASTLE STAR 5

Castle took the lead after Steven Dallas scored on the 2nd minute and then doubled their lead when Scott McReynolds scored on the 20th minute. North End pulled a goal back when Michael plant scored on the 30th minute. Castle then upped the pace aging and scored again through Paul Stewart on the 40th minute and a couple by Steven Dallas to complete his hat-trick on the 55th and 65th minutes.

GLENDERMOTT 3 GLEBE RANGERS RES 4

Glebe went behind on the 25th minute of this game but came back with a goal scored by Andrei Graur on the 35th minute to be level at half-time. Glebe then went in front with a goal scored by Gareth Henry on the 46th minute followed by goals scored by Ian Wilson on the 49th minute and an own goal on the 51st minute. The home side came back with goals scored on the 75th and 77th minute to cut the deficit but at the end Glebe went through by a single goal.
