Teams from Newforge Taggers, Portadown Panthers, Coleraine Chargers and Ballyclare Hares all made the journey up to Eaton Park and all gave a fantastic display of special needs tag rugby.

The morning kicked off at 1030am with all teams entering teams in both Over and Under 15s grouped matches.

There was a fantastic buzz around the ground with the atmosphere added to by extra support from a welcome visit by some of the Ballymena 1st XV, Club Directors and Club exPresident Syd Millar.

The rugby played on in 10 minute games against each other with all the players doing their clubs proud with everyone putting in 110% effort in all matches.

With all the rugby played the teams retired to the clubhouse to share hotdogs and crisps provided by Montgomery’s Restaurant and Tayto respectively.

The icing on the cake was the award of the fair play trophy kindly donated by Ballymena RFC and selected by the players of the 1st XV to the Ballyclare Hares.

The Ballymena Bears offers tag rugby to young people with learning difficulties. They meet every other Sunday at Eaton Park.
