Ballymena & District HPS complete successful show season

BALLYMENA & District HPS completed a very successful show season with classes for Card Winners and for the first time Reds, Mealys and Grizzles.

Judges were Cowan & John Balmer from Ahoghill and David Young who races now in Muckamore.

Robert Alexander won the Colour Class and W & N Gilbert penned the BIS taking 1st in the Card Winners with a bird that had won in Dublin. The raffle was won for the second week by Homer.

Card Winners (62 Birds) – 1st, 3rd & 4th W & N Gilbert, 2nd B Herbison, Reserve, HC & Commended R Alexander, VHC J Letters. Colour Class (53 Birds) – 1st & VHC R Alexander, 2nd & Reserve B Herbison, 3rd Richmond Bros, 4th & HC W & N Gilbert, Commended MDC Magill.

Meanwhile, Ballymena & District will host the Annual Mid Antrim Open Show to be held in the Cullybackey HPS Clubrooms, Fenaghy Road on New Year’s day Tuesday 1st January. Penning is from 12 Noon until 2.00pm a 3 in 1 for Old Bird and Young Bird.

All birds from the local Sect B area, will be made welcome, an Open Show for Mid Antrim birds.

All the usual Specials including Best in Show, Best Opposite Sex, Most Points and Best YB. All club members should supply prizes and any help would be appreciated.

* Fanciers in North Antrim and across the NIPA will be saddened to learn that Willie Neill has passed away at the advanced age of 83 years.

He was the uncle of Terrence McCrudden and he and Tapy who was the driver, convoyed the NIPA birds for several years, at that time the NIPA Secretary was the late Horace Devine who lived in Ballymoney.
