Ballymena United Youth Academy round-up

United 4, Glendowan 1: United's youngest side started the match strongly and before long a great left footed strike from Ben Wylie hit the bottom corner to give them an early lead.

Ballymena continued to attack and Matthew Lorimer soon scored with a nice finish but Glendowan continued to press and pulled a goal back.

This spurred the Wee Skies on to getting another goal, taken well by Joshua Courtney.

Late on after a goalmouth scramble Matthew Lorimer tapped in his second goal of the match to complete a great first home display of the season for the under-10s.

UNDER-11

Portadown 0, United 5: The under-11s continued their 100 per cent start to the season with this great display.

Lee O’Brien rifled in the opener before his strike partner Jack Millar weighed in with his fourth of the season.

The pressure continued on the Portadown goal and it was no surprise when O’Brien notched his second of the game, rounding the keeper.

Callum Ross, United’s best performer this season, again had a great game in defence and as United piled forward, O’Brien got his hat trick before Jamie Houston hit the post and Jack O’Mahony notched his second in two games to complete the scoring. MOM - Lee O’Brien.

UNDER-12

Seagoe 1, United 8: United returned to winning with this strong midweek performance,despite having a squad of only 12 players.

Ace marksman Paddy Quigg fired in a superb hat trick, Callum Purse weighed in with two and the scoring was completed by Jack Walsh, Sam Armstrong and Matthew Logan.

United 7, Hillsborough 1: The U-12s went goal crazy again on Saturday as they played some great football in this victory.

Paddy Quigg (2), Peter Rankin (2), Matthew Logan, Jordan Hassan and Jack Walshe were all on the scoresheet.

At the other end, man-of-the-match Declan Smith had an outstanding game, nullifying any threat at the back.

UNDER-13

United 0, Banbridge 2: The Wee Sky Blues were missing two key players through injury and

suspension and found themselves under pressure early on.

Banbridge started the second half brightly and took advantage of the referee missing a handball decision to take the lead.

The Wee Sky Blues pushed forward for an equalizer and only a fantastic save denied James Bovill his first of the season. A second break away goal put Ballymena 2-0 down and left the boys wondering how they didn't manage to take at least a point from the game. MOM - Luke Calderwood

United 1, Ridgeway Rovers 1: Ballymena put in a battling performance on Wednesday night to take a point from third placed Ridgeway.

Benji Agnew scored with a terrific shot from 25 yards in the first minute and then held firm until the second half when Ridgeway scored from a quick break.

A late injury to full back Eoin McGaughey and a red card for Josh Corry made it a disappointing end to an encouraging performance. MOM - Benji Agnew.
