Ballymoney Cycling Club education plan for cyclists

Cyclists, experienced or beginners from all over the Causeway Coast and Glens areas are encouraged to have a look at what Ballymoney CC are doing for senior and youth cycling in their latest four year development and education plan.

With senior advancement a new feature along with the established ‘Youth Mentoring’that has seen incredible success, this top flight outfit are taking cycling and cycle sport to another level in 2016. It is about getting the best information and skills for the riders to aid their progression.

On the competition side, the youth get prepared for top events like the Errigal International Youth Tour and the Irish and Ulster Road and Track Championships that saw 11 gold silver and bronze medals coming back to Ballymoney in 2015. The juniors will look at senior type racing and getting focused on races like the Tour of the North and the Junior Tour of Ireland. BCC Senior riders are on course to ride the 8 day An Post Ras in 2016 and all the other top one day races in Ireland. The An Post Ras is the focal event for all clubs riders from U11 to Junior, this being their long term objective in terms of top quality cycling. Ballymoney CC have Ras veteran Niall O’Hagan who is active in the club’s senior and youth development.

After a year of tremendous success with Irish National and Ulster Gold, Silver and bronze medals, European and Irish Duathlon, gold and bronze medals; success on and off road, Triathlon and Duathlon, BCC Biesty’s Centra is amongst the top clubs in Ireland.

Catering for all abilities, the team’s elite athlete programme, works with the senior riders getting them used to quality training rather than the weekend chain gang runs that so many cyclists do and fail to get the nessecary training required to race at a competitive level. Riders like RAS hero Niall O’Hagan, gold, silver and bronze medal winners, and winners of numerous open races, Stuart Laverty, Mervyn Linton, Uel Cunningham and A1 racer Steven McAllister are always on hand to advise and also part of the BCC Mentoring system.
