Ballymoney travelled to Dromore on Saturday looking to build on last week’s cup win and put some league points on the board.

With a largely settled side starting to emerge from the early season disruption, this week was always going to be a better indicator of how well the squad are coping with losing top try threats Ewan Strang, Chris Watson, and Cormac McCartney from last year’s squad.

As the match progressed, those losses would become apparent, with try scoring opportunities again going astray.

Ballymoney were ten points down but after 36 mins, a try came. From good chip and chase, knocked down from Ryan Brace, James Cleland was on hand to finish it off. The conversion was missed, so the half time score stayed at 10-5 to the home side.Campbell’s kick went over for 10-8. But five minutes later, a hammer blow came from Dromore, breaking from the halfway line to score in the corner. The conversion was missed, leaving it 15-8 with 18 minutes to play.

On 72 mins, Jonny Hanna went over for the try, and Campbell levelled the game with the conversion.
