Ballymoney keep up brilliant form with podium finishes around country

The top cycling team have won more races than any other and were back in domineering form again.

Ryan Orr won a prestigious Classic A3 raceat Banbridge, while Coleraine student Ronan Sherman went back to his old club and won the Bann Wheelers’ Interclub round three at Letterloan .

Schoolboys Shay Donley, Robbie Doherty, Scott Donley and Arthur Taggart were also in action and in the results.

ORR WINS THE NOEL TEGGART MEMORIAL RACE

In a hot and sunny day on the Banbridge, Gilford, Scarva famous tough 11 mile circuit, with 5 laps to cover Ryan Orr was the winner,

The A1 race was 77 miles long and Ballymoney Biesty’s had Steven McAllister riding this race in preparation for the Suir 3 Day in August.

McAllister rolled in comfortably at the front of the top quality field an looks like the build up is going to plan. McAllister and team mate Devon

McIlwaine along with two others to be selected will be travelling to Clonmel for the end of season premier stage race that attracts the likes of

Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly’s team An Post and the English outfit Rapha Condor and the Nicholas Roche Performance Team.

Ryan Orr who will be riding for Cycling Ulster in the Tour of Ireland junior race in August and winning the Teggart is another step for him in the heady top echelons of Cycling!

On Tuesday evening the Dominican student Ronan Sherman jumped clear of the remaining field to win the BWCC round three of the Interclub league.

This race held at Letterloan outside Macosquin on the fast circuit was a boost to the lads confidence in a road race as he is now riding in track events at Belfast’s Orangefield and Dublin’s Sundrive tracks.

Ronan plans to ride in the Irish National Championships at thestart of July. Details and a report will follow Ronan’s progress.

DOHERTY AND DONLEY GET SECOND AND THIRD

In a week of the popular town centre races and the closed course races that is so popular with the riders. BCC Biesty’s Centra Youth Race Team are chasing their older team mates for the headlines and this week just shows how strong and good they are getting.

U11 rider Scott Donley was 6th at the Newtownards Crit, with U15 Robbie Doherty 9th and Shay Donley was 8th.

Then it was off to the Crit in the Park in Belfast on Friday evening and here the results just got better. In the Under 14 race Shay Donley decidedit was time to up the tempo and he was narrowly beaten by the Donegal duo of Doogan and Halvey getting an exciting 3rd place.

In the U16 race the Dalriada under 15 schoolboy Robbie Doherty jumped clear of a top field and was only just pipped on the line by Connor McCann from Castledawson.

Arthur Taggart was in the U14 race and is showing signs of a lot of potential and is getting round these races with ease. On Sunday at Banbridge Robbie and Shay were 7th and 11th to finish off a great week for the team.

This Wdnesday evening is the Kirkhill Circuit TT on the 16.7km course starting at Moore Unidrill at 7.15pm
