The Ballymoney girls had a strong start maintaining a lot of possession during the first half with a strike from Katherine Minihan which went wide of the goal, but Harlequins took advantage of some quick breaks gaining several penalty corners with some great saves made by goal keeper Jodie.

However, Harlequins managed to deflect the ball past the Ballymoney defensive leaving the score at half time 1-0 to Belfast Harlequins.

Following the half time talk from Angie Huey, the Ballymoney squad started the second half meaning business with the majority of the possession, again Katherine Minihan managed to break past the Harlequins defence to have a reverse shot saved by the Belfast Harlequins keeper.

Harlequins responded with some skilful attacking play gaining their only penalty corner in the second half which goalkeeper Jodie stopped with an amazing stick save.

Despite more attacking play from Ballymoney it seemed it wasn’t our day with Emma Kernohan putting the ball wide of the post from a penalty corner strike. The finishing score was 1-0.

This was a disappointing result as the squad had the majority of possession and attacking play. The squads focus now is getting back into training and focusing on what needs to be done to achieve success in our premier league campaign.
