U13s Ards 1 v 5 Ballymoney

BALLYMONEY U13's travelled to County Down on Saturday to play Ards Youth.

Ballymoney won the game 5-1, in the end it was well deserved. The first half was pretty even until J.E.Convery scored a rocket that went over the Ards keeper, from 25 yards out. Ards equalised in that half. The second half was totally different, manager Davy Cunningham switched the formation from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2, making one substitution at half time bringing on L.McIlveen in goal for J.Cunningham. Ballymoney started the half on a high with a goal from new signing Connor Patterson which came from a low cross which C.Patterson slotted home.

The defence of M.Brown, R.Hargy, S.Mooney and R.Boreland stayed solid throughout the match. The midfield of C.Norris, O.Barton, J.E.Convery and C.Patterson worked well together, trying to get the ball down and pass it through to the strikers J.Elliott and C.Grundon. The second goal was again new man C.Patterson who was on the end of a lovely cross from C.Grundon aimed at the back post. Then a bit of magic from R.Boreland, a perfect pass down the line to J.Elliott who raced past the Ards defence and then got the fourth goal for Ballymoney.

Ballymoney then brought on D.Greene, L.McIntyre, new signing A.O'Boyle and R.McCook, this resulted in another goal, a corner that fell to Ballymoney's captain O.Barton who blasted the ball into the net from around the penalty spot. This was a good result for Ballymoney who are getting back to top form and are ready to start climbing up the table.
