Ballyvally set up for Daffodil Tournament

Ballyvally Archery Club are gearing up for their annual Daffodil FITA Field Tournament at Castlewellan Forest Park next week.

The All Ireland Field Championships will also be shot there in March.

Approximately 20 members of the club turned out to set up the bosses and prepare the venue for the archers but two of the work party were in for a big surprise.

Both William Edwards and Damien Cunningham are key and enthusiastic workers in the club and unknown to them had been selected to receive trophies to celebrate their hard work in 2014.

William got the German Nuts and Bolts Archer and Damien got the Metal Crossbow Archer. The presentation was made in the middle of Castlewellan forest.

CLUB AGM

The annual AGMs of Ballyvally Archery club will take place this Wednesday night starting at 8pm in Banbridge Leisure Centre.

Both the junior and senior meetings will take place at the same time and the committees will start work on plans for 2015-2016.

As this is the 40th anniversary of field archery on the estate of Dr Jean Whyte at Loughbrickland, special activities are planned over the year and in fact have already started.

Northern Ireland Indoor Target Championships

Once again the club will host the Indoor Target Champs in Banbridge Leisure Centre in March. Club members, both junior and senior, will start to prepare next week for this important event.

GETTING STARTED IN ARCHERY

Ballyvally is very much a family club with archers of all age shooting.

The club’s youngest member is three years old and the oldest a very young 90.

Beginners are welcome. For further information contact club chairman Frank Mulligan on 028 406 23748. All equipment is supplied by the club. All you have to do is turn up and have a go.
