Banbridge back at work as they aim to go better

Following last season’s success, Banbridge Hockey Club are looking forward to the 2013/14 season with confidence.

To prepare, the Ladies will start pre-season training on Monday August 5 at 7pm at Havelock Park, the men’s first XI on Saturday August 10 at 9.30am while the men’s second–fourth XI will start back on Tuesday August 20 at 6.30pm.

Senior Hockey Co-Ordinator Douglas Anderson stated: “The club had an excellent 2012/13 season with our men’s and ladies first XI teams and men’s second XI topping their league tables and the ladies second XI and men’s fourth XI securing the runner up spot and promotion in their respective league competitions.

“We plan to further this success as we go forward into the new season. All senior players are encouraged to attend pre-season training and new members will also be very welcome.”

The Ladies’ first XI return to top flight hockey in Ulster this season as they play in Senior 1, the seconds are promoted to Junior 2, the third XI in Junior 7 and fourths in Junior 9B. Simon Jess will again be assisted by Robin Madeley and Dane Ward with Aaron Appleton working with the goalkeepers.

The men’s first XI, coached by Mark Tumilty, will be aiming to repeat their unbeaten run in the Ulster Premier League this season and further their success in the Senior Cup and IHL.

The men’s second XI play in Junior 1 with both the men’s third and fourth XI playing in Junior 2.
