Banbridge MTB team dominate in Irish Champs

After a really gruelling event that saw the riders competing at their limits, the evergreen Willie Mulligan stormed home to win the Supervets title for the first time. This was a superb win for Willie who remains an inspiration to all of his MTB colleagues.

At the other end of the age spectrum, James Curry certainly lived up to his early season promise by clinching a hotly contested Junior Championship winner’s medal.

Completing the hat-trick of Irish titles was new U16 Boys Champion Cameron McIntyre with a determined fight right to the line in pursuit of his well deserved victory.

Both James and Cameron are two of the best prospects in the club and are equally capable on and off road with a number of road successes already recorded by both riders.

Also worth noting were the exploits of Banbridge rider David Montgomery (currently unattached) who won the Under 23 title at the same event while equalling the lap times of the elite riders in the senior race – some performance!

Other members of the squad were also prominent in the results: Shannon Buller claimed the runner up place in the U16 Girls event while brother John Buller finished a fine fourth in the Boys U16 race. In the U12 race, Christopher Curry placed seventh - fine performances by all in this major Championship event.

Junior Tour Success for Matty

Banbridge’s Matty Teggart, riding for the Nicholas Roche Performance Team in the International Junior Tour of Ireland put recent injury disappointments well behind him with an impressive all round display in this top class junior event.

A stage win and a number of top five finishes in the company of riders from around the world was good enough to clinch the green points jersey and complete a great week for him on some of the toughest roads in Ireland.

Banbridge CC Riders in the North West

Two riders made the long journey to compete in the Foyle CC Grand Prix last weekend.

Ian Cochrane and David Lavery rode in the A4 category, both being new to this level of competition this season, and were rewarded with respectable finishes in the 60 rider field. There was a top ten for Ian and a solid main group placing for David. Well done to both.
