Parkview Ladies travelled to Bangor in search of Senior League points last Saturday, but it was the locals who took the spoils.

A solitary strike moved the hosts in to the top half of the Section 3 table, while only the brilliance of goalkeeper Sharon Gaffney prevented a heavier defeat.

They will be aiming to bounce back tomorrow (November 16) when they host Limavady at Foundry Lane.

The first half was evenly contested against the Seasiders with Clare Patterson and Angela McFall making several thrusts through the middle, while Toni Smallwood kept the home defenders on their toes.

Bangor made the vital breakthrough in the 20th minute from a penalty corner, but approaching the interval McFall and Jenny Wallace linked effectively down the right flank to create space, but there was no end result.

During the third quarter Cathy Morrow and Jenna Maxwell forced two penalty corners. From the first a routine involving Maxwell, Patterson and Clare McClean ended with Maxwell firing in to the side-netting from a tight angle, while the second produced a clean strike by Patterson, but the goalie saved well.

In the later stages Bangor were in control, forcing Gaffney to make several smart saves, and although the Doagh girls pushed players forward in the closing moments in an attempt to salvage a point, the Seasiders defence held out.
