Bann A do the double over Dundonald but suffer defeat to Garvey

This has been the second time that they have beaten them this season.

Bann were very close to obtaining the full seven poins - two of the local rinks lost on the last end to deny them victory.

Rink 1 did extremely well in a close tussle. At five ends the sides were level at 4-4, and after 10 ends it was 6-7 in Dundonald’s favour. At the three-quarter stage they trailed by three shots, 9-12, but pulled the score back to all square going into the final end. Again Bann scored another three shots to win 19-16.

Rink 2 was also a hard fought game. At five ends it was 5-5 and at the next end Bann lost two ends and had a bad six. They won the following six ends to be just two shots behind at the 10th end - 11-13. After 15 ends Banbridge were down by three shots and at the 19th Bann were just one behind. By scoring three on the 20th end Bann had taken a two shot lead but it was short-lived as they lost three shots on the last end to lose 22-23.

Rink 3 had a good game of bowls to watch. They won the first two ends by a shot and on the third they lost five to be two adrift by the fifth end. In only scoring once in the following five ends Bann trailed by eight shots, 6-14. By winning the next four end it meant that by the 15th they were down by four shots, 12-16. When the 20th end was finished the sides were level at 18-18. Dundonald won the final end by a shot to claim the point 18-19.

Rink 4 was Bann’s highest winning rink. At five ends Bann led by the minimum. When the 13th end was played they were still leading by a shot, 10-11. Bann went on to win the next seven ends in a row and despite losing the last end they won by 14 shots, 25-11.

- Bann A were well beaten by Lisnagarvey by 38 points.

Garvey were determined to have their revenge on Bann. They had led by 18 shots in the Senior Cup but went on to lose to the locals.

Only one of the Bann rinks was unlucky not to be win as they were beaten but the other rinks were well beaten.

Rink 1 was down by two shots at five ends and after 10 ends they trailed by eight shots, 5-13. Bann were still in the game after 16 ends as they only trailed by three shots (13-16) but a run of three bad ends in which they conceded 10 shots destroyed any hope of winning the point. Ban were beaten by 11 shots, 15-26.

By losing a three and a five in the first five ends rink 2 were under a lot of pressure from early on. After five ends they were down by six shots but by winning the next four ends they reduced the defecit to just two shots, 11-13. By only scoring once over the following seven ends Bann trailed by nine shots after 17 ends, 13-22. In the end they were beaten by 10 shots, 17-27.

Rink 3 just had a bad Monday morning at the office. Things never got going for them and by only registering three scores during the first 15 ends that Bann were 18 shots behind, 5-23. They ended up losing by 16 shots, 9-23.

Rink 4, skipped by Arron O’Keefe along with Ian Wright, Paul Chambers and Ian Gallagher were unfortunate in losing. It was a close game throughout but the Garvey rink just had the edge. After five ends Bann were three shots adrift and it was the same difference after 10 ends with the score at 6-9. By the three-quarter stage the Bann boys were five shots in arrears, 9-14. The point was still very much alive for both of the teams - Arron’s boys were all square on the 12th end at 15-15 but the Garvey skip drew the shot to win 15-16.
