Bann claim six points off the Ports

TRAVELLING to near neighbours Portadown, Banbridge feared that they might be a difficult side to obtain points from.

But in an entertaining game Banbridge were deservably the winners.

Rink 1: After they had lost the first two ends J Jess, I Wright, C Davis and G Moore took a 6-3 lead at the fourth end. They were well out of trouble by end 10 and by end 15 they had a 15 shot advantage, leading 22-7. They won by the same margain.

Rink 2: Brendan Davis’ rink of D Tumilty, P Chambers and J Major only conceded eight ends in total but only won by two shots. At five ends they trailed 2-6 and had decreased that deficit at end 10 by a shot. They were worrying at end 15 when the score read 10-15 but after taking six of the last seven ends they won 19-17.

Rink 3: Dan Buchanan’s rink of T Blackwood, W Steenson and M Jess opened well by scoring five shots on the first end, followed by a single and led by one shot at the end of the fifth end. Bann scored another five on the next end but failed to score in any of the following four ends and trailed 11-15.

Eventually they were beaten by two shots, 23-25.

Rink 4: This was another close encounter. After four ends Bann were trailing 8-0 but by the 10th it was 11-11. By end 16 they had raced ahead by six shots but in the penutimate end it was all square at 19-19.

In the final end Bann scored a four to claim victory.
