Bann Firsts earn comfortable win over Dromore in Shield encounter

Bann 1st’s travelled to Lisburn Racquets on February 12 to meet local rivals Dromore in the first match of their Shield campaign for this season.

Bann previously met Dromore last season in the league and knew Dromore could be a tough game for them.

Bann came out fighting from the first whistle with some admirable attacking play by the girls.

Lynn Wilson WA and Emma Boyd C produced some brilliant feeds into their shooters Sarah Aiken GA and Emma Cartmill GS which they effortlessly converted to goals.

Bann showed their strength and skills in the first half with both the defensive and attacking players working together to prevent a resilient Dromore side taking any lead.

Bann went into the second half aiming to play with the fight and wilingness to win that they had played with in the first half.

Bann’s persistent defensive pairing of Cathy Buchanan GD and Christine Cartmill GK achieved some superb interceptions from the Dromore attack which Bann took full advantage of.

Joanne Kerr WD and Emma Boyd C tightly defended the Dromore attackers forcing errors by Dromore which the Bann shooters eagerly converted to goals.

In the final quarter Bann showed their determination to maintain their ever increasing lead against Dromore with some beautiful play up the court to Bann’s shooting circle. Bann comfortably won the match 56-36.

Player of the match was awarded to: Emma Boyd.
