Bann Fourths suffer defeat against league leaders Inishowen

After a break of several weeks Bann Fourths returned to action when they hosted league leaders Inishowen at the Academy grounds, suffering a 5-14 defeat.

Neither try line came under significant threat in an opening half which ended pointless.

The opening score came from an unlikely source of the home front row. Inishowen failed to secure lineout ball, prop Andy Wilson pounced with athleticism to secure possession and his surging run to the try line proved unstoppable. Anderson’s conversion attempt proved unsuccessful.

A missed tackle in midfield set the visitors’ centre off on a 40 metre run to the posts, with the conversion added.

The home side went all-out for the winning score but that left them vulnerable. An intercepted pass gave Inishowen a clear run to the posts. The conversion was added and the referee signalled the end of an entertaining game.
