And why would he? As the club’s riders bull their way through the sport across the globe, he is in the midst of a journey to the top,
Matthew is continuing to impress at the highest level in France and bagged another top ten last week, this time in the Tour Cotê D’Or, an Elite National stage race which attracts the top French riders.
Given he was also on team duty for his team-mate who finished second overall, the result bears even more weight.
“I’m delighted to have finished up tied for eighth on GC (General Classification) and having finished well up on every stage taking a 10th on Stage 3,” he said on Facebook.
“I rode in support of my team mate on the last stage when he was sitting second on GC. We were left chasing the race near the end of the final stage so I buried myself on the front and did all I could to help him out.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t take the overall win but we came away with a stage win.
“I’m feeling in great form at the minute and I’m delighted to be right up there competing for the win in the highest level of racing in France. Never stop believing.”
