This year, Bann Valley Road Club officials have used the pre registration system which was booked out within an hour of opening.

The hall will be available from midday on Sunday.

A full club meeting will be held on Wednesday evening to prepare for this event, and it is essential that all available members please attend.

Meanwhile, the first and long awaited ten-mile time trial in this seasons Bannside Electrical Services Time Trial League was held on Tuesday evening.

With 32 riders on the start list, the officials got proceedings underway promptly at 7pm with Bann Valley’s Enda McKeever first on the road.

Enda returned a time of 29.13, but it was left to two of the club colleagues to take the glory of the round when Conor McAteer stopped the clock at 22.14 followed – a minute down – by Gerard McNally on 23.14.

The top three was completed by Jason Henry who recorded a time of 23.53.

These times so early in the season bode well for a very fast and competitive 10-mile league and surely mean that times in the low 21s are on the cards for later in the season.

On this point, congratulations to Gerard McNally for getting a fantastic 21.56 in a Carn Wheelers TT last Thursday.

Mention also of yet another win for Conor McAteer, who took the first junior prize at the Tour of Ards last wekend.

Cyclists are reminded that when attending the TT’s at the Hawthorn Inn, please be aware that other people have use of the car park and keep the areas directly in front of the bar and in front of the parked lorries clear.
