Sunday’s run was the first occasion on which the respective groups ride the same course, this was successful in accommodating riders who wished to experience riding at the faster pace as they were able to join the 2nd group at the coffee stop.

Irish record holder John Madden travelled from Ballycastle to participate in the training run, he was joined in the 1st group by Sean Kealey and new comers to the sport Chris Mc Intyre and Keiran Mullan, Big Nigel Kerr also joined this elite group for the first time, these three ride strongly to stay with Sean and John during the ride.

The 2nd group ride at a steady pace and all enjoyed the morning, although the riders in the 2nd group would be the first to admit they would have difficulty matching the pace of the 1st group on the road, however, these guys were more than a match for their thinner contemporaries in the wee caf in Dungiven.

The club’s weekly training run meets at the Strand Service Station on the Strand Road in Coleraine on Saturday’s and Sunday’s at 9am, weather permitting.
