Bannsiders look forward to Junior Cup semi final clash

Coleraine Rugby Club First XV is looking forward to the semi-final of the Junior Cup on Saturday.

The Bannsiders will entertain Kukri Qualifying Two league leaders Ballyclare, a side that has won all its matches this season so far. It will be a tight fixture and one that is sure to see a lot of drive and passion from both sides.

Coleraine coach Richard Beggs is looking forward to the game, but has some concerns over injury.

He said: “This is going to be a big test for Coleraine. We have been hit with a spate of long term injuries and that has left us a bit weakened.

“In recent weeks that run of injury has continued and we have had to call on a lot of new faces to keep going. The effort and commitment shown has been fantastic and as we approach the semi-final we will be looking at all those people as potential members of the squad.

“Training this week will tell us a lot and we will see how many people are going to be available and fit to play. Then we will select the squad.

“Ballyclare beat us in a pre-season friendly in August and we have some idea of their strength. They have gone on to win all seven league matches this season and they are obviously in good shape to meet us in the Cup.

“We know we are facing a big game and we will be putting out as strong a side as we can muster. The boys are all up for it and there is a very positive attitude in the squad.

“I would also appeal to club members and friends to come along and show their support. Encouragement on the sidelines is very important and gives a great boost to the boys, so please come along and make a lot of noise.”

The game kicks off at 2.30pm.
